Microsoft, an established leader and software giant, is headquartered in Washington State, USA. Its Windows operating system holds a 73% share of the global desktop OS market.

CrowdStrike, a rising star and software security company headquartered in Texas, USA, is a long-term partner of Microsoft, providing antivirus and anti-hacking system security services for Windows.

The severity of the incident has been widely reported, so I won’t repeat it here. Here is a brief overview:

  • 8.5 million Windows computers worldwide were affected and completely unusable.
  • Over 38,000 flights were delayed, and more than 4,000 flights were canceled.
  • In France, people turned on their TVs thinking they were broken, only to find out that the TV stations had stopped broadcasting.
